Course Description:

In this pre-recorded lecture, Alice takes a deep dive on latent print residue and how its composition, distribution, and transfer cause some of the more complex distortion effects known as “tonal reversals”.  We examine why the composition of latent print residue is critical to its appearance in the latent print and how the volume of residue that is transferred can vary.  We look at how transfer of residue from the ridges versus the furrows can impact its appearance and create areas of varying “tone” and contrast.
