Course Description:

In this pre-recorded lecture, Alice addresses more advanced concepts and patterns of distortion.  Building on the concepts introduced in the webinar “Basic Distortion”, Alice focuses on more advanced distortion effects.  Alice explains how distortion of the friction ridge skin during contact can lead to the introduction of false minutiae (or loss of true minutiae) from movement, shearing stress, or multiple contact events.  There is a strong focus on advanced residue effects and how displacement of residue can affect the appearance of minutiae in the latent print.
